A new frontier of the BIM process: ‘GEOTECHNICAL BIM’ working group in collaboration with FEDspinoff BIM uses an intelligent approach to create and manage building and structure projects and, at the same time, has a significant potential field of application in any infrastructure scheme, including in relation to geotechnics. In this regard, a new frontier of the BIM process is represented by GEOTECHNICAL BIM. A new cooperation of FEDspinoff with a novel group of geotechnical engineers and researchers and geotechnical BIM specialist of Univeristy of Naples Federico II is announced. With this cooperation, FEDspinoff is able to offer qualified support for the development and the integration of the geotechnical model in the BIM-based project. |

BIM object adds sustainability and environmental data in cooperation with FED Spinoff Today, BIMobject AB (BIMobject) and FED Spinoff – Future Environmental Design (FED) announce the agreement to cooperate to develop new functionalities and services for the platform BIMobject® Cloud regarding product information on sustainability and environment. This will allow manufacturers to share data on the environmental sustainability of their products, and enable designers and architects to perform sustainability calculations and simulations of BIM-based projects. Presentation of the publication: “BIM design system as a methodology and tool for the design and management of a building during its lifecycle” Chamber of Commerce for Industry, Handicraft, and Agriculture of Naples - Via S. Aspreno, Naples This day was focused on the presentation of the publication on BIM by ACEN and the Chamber of Commerce. The presenter was Eng. Antonio Salzano, the Coordinator of the Young Commission of the Order of Engineers of Naples, and the event took place at the end of the “PhD course in companies”, promoted by ACEN and University Federico II. The aim of this event was to illustrate the potentialities of BIM, with case studies being used to explain the theoretical concepts of the BIM methodology and processes. Potential BIM research developments were demonstrated.

In Italy in 2014, INGENIO, with a contribution from STR, produced an interactive volume dedicated to the BIM methodology: “BIM – State-of-the-art in Italy and experiences”. |

BIM and FEDERICO II of Naples The University of Naples Federico II aims not only to educate engineers and architects in BIM, but to also conduct BIM research. Currently, the University is developing activities related to the realization of projects regarding environmental impact assessments that can take advantage of the BIM methodology, which is a powerful tool for orienting a construction design toward sustainability.

BIM Summit 2015 Conference – Italian and international experiences, future prospects Rogers hall - Politecnico of Milan (Campus Leonardo) The conference was an important event for AEC sector operators. It dealt with the BIM methodology, demonstrating applications in national and international fields and the state of the art of this methodology in Italy. Contributions came from delegates from Politecnico of Milan, the Ministero delle Infrastrutture e Trasporti (MIT) and some of the most important Italian companies in the construction sector. |
